Everyone had a great time finishing off two races on the opti line and three on the 420 line. On the opti line, Madeline Foote won with three points, Grant Dewald placed second with five points, and Grace Dewald placed third winning the tie with Sean Healy. The 420 line was fortunate enough to have race team sailors along with intermediate sailors. It was a close race between Alice Shane and James Goodson, Sean Golden and Evan Andrews, and Aidan DiPrima and Ian Grant. We look forward to seeing you all next summer!!

Grant Dewald mid tack.

First, they started appearing out of the southwest but then in the afternoon we were threatened by a large front sweeping down from the northeast. Morning session had a steady downpour which made sailing a little miserable (but windy nonetheless!). The northeast front dissipated as it moved towards Duxbury which provided a perfect window for some clear, yet rainy sailing.

In the picture above, Danny Hickey from Opti Advanced fights his way upwind through some moderate chop. PARENTS PLEASE PACK A RAINJACKET FOR YOUR KIDS DURING FOULWEATHER DAYS!!

HOORAY FOR DONATED WATER BOTTLES!

HOORAY FOR DONATED WATER BOTTLES!

CLEAN WATER IS A VALUABLE COMMODITY

Fortunately, Duxbury has clean tap water!

And now you have your own water bottle!

On a daily basis, DBMS instructors have found that they throw away hundreds of Poland Spring water bottles. At the end of the day, the bottles overfill our trashcans, spilling over and falling into the bay. Kids leave them on the dock where a prevailing wind blows them onto Duxbury Beach. Many remain full of water, with students only bothering to take a few sips of water.

To alleviate the consumption of petroleum based products, a generous donation has been made by the Charles Schwab Corporation, supplying every DBMS sailing and rowing student with a reusable water bottle. Our hope is to reduce the amount of Poland Spring water bottles that cycle their way through our campus and into the dumpster.

Hydration remains a critical part of sailing and rowing. Please make an effort to bring your water bottle to class everyday!

Pram Power gets ready for Session 3! The weather couldn’t have been any better with blue skys and wind that didnt shift too much allowing the opti line three races as well as the 420 line, ending the day strong. The opti sail number 420 placed first with five points, 9180 placed second with six points, and 23 placed third with seven points. The 420 sail number 11 placed first with four points, 15 placed second with eight points, and 22 placed third with nine points. Overall the sailors did a fantastic job today and I hope they had fun!

Aidan DiPrima and James Goodson having a lot of fun in the DYC...

Aidan DiPrima and James Goodson having a lot of fun in the DYC Regatta.
